Which of the following is an early 19th-century shower and which is a medieval torture chamber?
Lucky guess, smartypants.
The shower is located at Portland’s lovely Pittock Mansion, the former home of the longtime owner of the Oregonian. You see, children, once upon a time, a long time before you were born, newspapers made a lot of money, and their powerful owners could build themselves beautiful mansions, filled with marble and tapestries and bidets. Don’t be frightened, those days are long gone.
Stay tuned: more on Portland and the gorgeous Oregon coast — the current front-runner for America’s Most Beautiful — to come. If you enjoy seeing hundreds of other people’s vacation photos of sunsets, you are really going to love my next post. Get excited!
