About me

My name is Ruth Graham. I’m a former senior editor at the late, lamented Domino magazine, and previously served as features editor at the late, lamented New York Sun. As a freelance writer, I’ve contributed to the Wall Street Journal, Slate, the Awl, the Boston Globe, City Journal, the Daily Caller, the Daily, ARTnews, and elsewhere.

From August to October of 2009, I went on a long solo road trip across the country and back. This began as the space in which I wrote about that trip. And now it’s the space in which I write about other things.

You can read more about why I hit the road here.

Here are some highlights from the trip:

Carthage, MO: A visit to “America’s Sistine Chapel.”

Groom, TX: The second-largest cross in the Western hemisphere.

South Dakota: America’s greatest state. (And here’s another post about Mt. Rushmore, America’s greatest attraction, period.)

The aesthetic perils of traveling alone.
